When you really start to look for it, you realize just how many goods are produced in China. Credit where it’s due, they have some very skilled workers. At the same time though, there are some severe checks and balances missing somewhere along the way. Recent recalls include everything from toys to toothpaste to tires. Yes, I realize that the reason it seems as though so many recalls come from there is due in part to the sheer volume of goods they produce and export. Even so, these recalls are downright scary when you consider that they can all have fatal outcomes.

I think I’m going to pick up a copy of A Year Without “Made in China”: One Family’s True Life Adventure in the Global Economy by Sara Bongiorni. I think it’ll be an interesting and thought-provoking read that (hopefully) couldn’t be any more relevant or timely than right now.
